Resolution is the quality of an image. It's measured in terms of pixels.
Lower Resolution means less image detail. Higher Resolution means more image detail.
Dots per inch (DPI) is a measure of spatial printing or video resolution, in particular the number of individual dots or pixels within the span of one linear inch (2.54 cm.)
Web quality images are always 72 dpi, if it's more than that, the page will load slower.
Print quality images are always 300 dpi. When designing digital files intended for printing, the images should be high resolution.
The more dots/pixels the image contains, the sharper the image will print.
